It is easy to fall into despair and stay stuck in it.
About our own life and struggles or the state of the small world around us as well as the larger one beyond.
Despair in itself isn’t bad.
There’s a place for it just as there is for sadness and grief.
The problem is when despair becomes the lens we use to see life.
If despair becomes our spectacles, especially for a prolonged period of time, we run the risk of missing the beauty, grace, and goodness of life.
It’s as if we have blinders on that keep us focused on a path of despair.
Everything we see is hellish and hopeless.
But life isn’t bound by our despairing perceptions.
All is not lost, never lost.
We all have tragedies to contend with, that shake us up and throw us to the ground.
But even in this midst of our tragedies, there is hope, grace, and goodness.
Tiny miracles and blessings waiting to be discovered.
If you find yourself wearing despair lenses, there are several ways to remove them.
First and foremost, be kind and compassionate towards yourself. I realize that sounds very cliche but there is great truth and power in it.
Along with this, shut down negative self-talk when you hear it.
Don’t berate yourself for having negative self-talk; just silence it with grace and kindness.
It’s ok if you have to stop the badgering self-talk over and over again and again.
Be patient with yourself and recognize that you are doing the very best you can.
When we are kinder towards ourselves, it is easier to see goodness in our life and in the world.
This is the starting point.
There are other things that can be done to see the magnificence and miracle of life; I’ll share some suggestions with you in future blogs.
I wish you well and send many blessings your way.
Thank you for your time and attention. Please take care!
